Originally completed in 1969, this Sunset award-winning home has remained in the same family since it was commissioned. The current owners sought to upgrade the interiors and expand on the structure to better serve the needs of a new generation. Though the home was originally designed with a fairly rigid geometry, JPA was able to integrate thoughtfully designed expansions onto the edges of the existing structure in order to provide better kitchen and dining spaces. We also worked carefully with the team at Wildland Workshop to reprogram and redesign the exterior spaces around the home in an effort to more elegantly tie the house to its surrounding landscape and create usable outdoor spaces on the structures very limited site.
